Aiming to boost the shopping experience to new heights by creating a 'fashion museum' and a retail environment, Maison Martin Margiela opens a concept pop-up store in Tokyo.

Being one of the most sophisticated luxury brands of the modern times, innovation and excellence has always seem to be a prequisite for Maison Martin Margiela. For luxury brands to succeed and to maintain their success, it is crucial to present a creative and diverse combination of various aspects of design and frame of mind.  An expert for seizing such notions, Maison Martin Margiela's new project ambitiously aims to boost the shopping experience to new heights by creating a 'fashion museum', a retail environment which blends elements from art and fashion. Accepting an invitation from Tokyo's massive department store Isetan, the fashion house has opened a concept pop-up store called L'Espace Maison Martin Margiela in Shinjuku. Presents monthly editions of special and differently themed installations and items, the store is based on the brand's signature lifestyle and design philosophy.

Following a trend often repeated this year by fashion houses such as Prada's 'Ideal Home' and Acne's first Tokyo flagship store, the concept revolves around an interior of a house. The first concept that's currently on display has an open plan and is divided into four sections: a living room, a bedroom, a reception and a dressing-room. each space has a different mood and purpose, emanating the maison’s lifestyle concept. The furniture pieces are a collaboration with italian design brand Cerruti Baleri. L'espace Maison Martin Margiela will be operational for one year only, stocking the Maison Martin Margiela haute couture and prêt-a-porter collections, in addition to a sharp selection of unique creations.
