Before crying out "The fashion world has been diversifying for the last decade!" watch the video below. Now apart from breaking the rules of fashion such as wearing socks with sandals and a mini skirt at age 60; the video is probably the most inclusive fashion video to date.
Old, young, slim, plus-sized, transgender, black, white, amputee or head scarf donning models are all showing us how the Eurocentric beauty standards aren’t just cutting it anymore. I’m not suggesting this one video will change all fashion powerhouses’ selection of runway and campaign models or their idea of what is beautiful; but it’s definitely a step towards what A LOT of people think IS beautiful.
And not to miss out on the other big message of the video, we’ll finish with the words of H&M’s CEO Karl-Johan Persson, "Creating a closed loop for textiles, in which unwanted clothes can be recycled into new ones, will not only minimize textile waste, but also significantly reduce the need for virgin resources as well as other impacts fashion has on our planet." So reuse, recycle and never mind any other fashion rules!
